Sectors we serve
The same standards, applied to real operating conditions
A certification programme in a factory, a construction site and a waste transfer station shares clauses but nothing else. These pages set out what each sector is actually asked to evidence.
Why sector context changes the answer
ISO 14001 asks every organisation to identify its environmental aspects and determine which are significant. In a precision engineering business that answer is coolant, swarf, solvent and energy. In a housebuilder it is spoil, dust, site run-off and embodied carbon in materials. In a distribution operation it is diesel, refrigeration and packaging. The clause is identical; the evidence an auditor expects is not.
The same applies to ESG reporting. A Scope 3 estimate for a food manufacturer is dominated by purchased agricultural ingredients and their land-use change. For a professional services firm it is purchased services and business travel. Applying a generic template produces a report that looks complete and collapses the first time a lender or customer asks how a number was derived.
Our engagements therefore start with the operating reality of the sector: the processes that generate the impact, the regulatory obligations that sit alongside the standard, the terminology a certification body's assessor will use, and the commercial documents — tenders, frameworks, customer questionnaires, lender information requests — that triggered the work in the first place. That is why we can usually give a realistic timeline after a single scoping conversation rather than a three-week discovery phase.
The sector pages below are organised the way UK buyers search: by industry, with the standards and schemes most often required, and the specific evidence that tends to be missing on a first assessment. If your sector is not listed, the underlying method does not change — speak to a consultant and we will tell you which standards your customers are likely to demand next.
Industry
Sector expertise
Manufacturing and engineering
Four or five standards running at once, energy as a controllable cost, and customer ESG questionnaires arriving with the audit pack.
Construction and housebuilding
Supply chain prequalification, framework requirements and site-level evidence, where a strong head-office manual with weak site files fails the audit.
Food and drink supply chains
Product safety schemes and environmental certification audited in parallel, with refrigeration, effluent and packaging the material impacts.
Logistics and transport
Fuel and fleet dominate the environmental profile, safety evidence sits in driver and vehicle records, and customer data pulls in information security.
Waste, recycling and circular economy
Mass balance that has to reconcile, permits and consignment notes behind every claim, and circular content that customers cannot prove without you.
Professional and financial services
Client questionnaires demanding ISO 27001, and a first ESG report where material topics sit in purchased services, travel and workforce data.
